Featuring one hundred artworks by Gordon Matta-Clark, the exhibition « Anarchitect » explores the importance of Matta-Clark’s practice towards a rethinking of architecture after modernism. Embracing a diversity of media that include photography, film and printmaking, the exhibition features a number of works related to contemporary urban culture that further contextualize Gordon Matta-Clark’s compelling critique of architecture. Curators Sergio Bessa and Jessamyn Fiore offer a renewed reading of Gordon Matta-Clark’s work and the influence it has had on contemporary art and architecture.

Réunissant près d’une centaine d’œuvres de Gordon Matta-Clark (1943-1978), l’exposition « Anarchitecte » explore l’importance du travail de l’artiste au regard d’une réévaluation de l’architecture après le modernisme. Couvrant un large éventail de médiums – photographie, film et gravure –, l’exposition présente des œuvres qui, du fait de leur lien avec la culture urbaine contemporaine, éclairent le contexte dans lequel s’inscrit la passionnante critique de l’architecture proposée par Gordon Matta-Clark. Les commissaires Sergio Bessa et Jessamyn Fiore proposent ici une lecture renouvelée du travail de Gordon Matta-Clark et de son influence sur l’art contemporain et l’architecture.
