The Jeu de Paume currently presents a retrospective of Yvonne Rainer’s cinema; including her seven feature films and her five short films. On this occasion, the curator of the program Chantal Pontbriand interviews the artist and asks her about dance, film, politics, photography, multidisciplinarity and the new work she’s preparing for an upcoming show at the MoMA in New York. By explaining her shift from choreography towards cinema in 1972 and how she returned to choreography in 1996, Yvonne Rainer comments on her films and on herself being a “walking example of interdisciplinarity”.
